1. What is 1&1 MailXchange?
1&1 Internet is the world's largest web hosting company. 1&1 will use the Open-Xchange plaform to provide a range of 1&1 branded email, called MailXchange, and collaboration packages worldwide. MailXchange will offer full personal information managment ("PIM") functionality - email, calendaring, contact, and task management - together with advanced groupware features such as Document Sharing and Object Linking. Available first in Germany as of February 28, and subsequently in US, UK and France within the first half of 2007.

2. What can 1&1 MailXchange do for me?
1&1 MailXchange delivers Smart Collaboration™, the award-winning Open-Xchange technology that simplifies everyday life, work and social interactions. Beneath a slick, intuitive AJAX interface, 1&1 MailXchange offers email, calendar, contacts, tasks, and knowledge management. Unique features include:
Infostore, a common repository of documents, bookmarks and knowledge entries; Documail, the integration of email and document sharing/version control; Smart Links between all collaboration objects;Smart Privacy, allowing each user to define read and write access to all collaboration objects; and Universal Access, the ability to access the server from the widest variety of browsers, clients and mobile devices. The 1&1 MailXchange's web-based administration module, featuring Tiered Entitlements, allows IT professionals to easily to implement role-based user management.

3.  What is the target group for 1&1 MailXchange?
1&1 MailXchange is targeted to freelancers, small offices and home offices (SOHOs), as well as to small and midsized companies (SMEs) that look for a full service hosted solution. For companies that do not wish to purchase and maintain a stand-alone groupware solution, 1&1 MailXchange delivers a full serviced groupware solution at a very attractive price.

4. How much does 1&1 MailXchange cost?
1&1 MailXchange accounts are offered as standard or premium packages, available in 1, 5, 25, and 100 user account packages. Pricing starts at €/$2.99 for standard package and €/$3.99 for a premium package per account/per month.  The premium package includes full Open-Xchange functionality of a standard user PLUS access to the Open-Xchange OXtender for MS Outlook and the WebDAV interface (for quick document exchange from or to MailXchange Infostore). A free 30-day test period is available for interested parties. 1&1 MailXchange is available as a stand-alone package and as an add-on for existing 1&1 hosting customers.

5. What does this mean for existing Open-Xchange customers?
Existing and future customers that prefer to run their collaboration solution in their own environment will continue to do so uninterrupted.

6. What does this mean for existing Open-Xchange partners?
Open-Xchange will continue to deliver Open-Xchange Server through our worldwide distribution and business partner network.  Existing partner relationships will not be disrupted.

7. Will all current 1&1 customers be required to use Open-Xchange?
No. This partnership is simply about providing 1&1 customers with another option.  Each customer has the choice to evaulate the server and pick the best solution for their situation.

8. Where do I get support?
Various levels of supprt are available.  End users receive support for 1&1 MailXchange exclusively through 1&1.

9. 1&1 already provides email and collaboration, how does Open-Xchange compare?
Open-Xchange offers advanced open source based email and collaboration options at disruptive price points. Open-Xchange offerings including: personal information management (“PIM”) functionality, email, calendaring, contacts and task management together with advanced groupware features such as Documail, Smart Linking and Smart Document Sharing.

10. What is the relationship between 1&1 and Open-Xchange?
Open-Xchange and 1&1 have signed a non-exclusive partnership to provide hosted email and collaboration packages based on Open-Xchange’s Smart Collaboration technology. Open-Xchange is the FIRST open source collaboration solution that is available for a broader audience as hosted solution. Compared with Hosted Microsoft Exchange, we deliver significant more functionality for a less than half of the price of Hosted Microsoft Exchange. Open-Xchange looks forward to offering Open-Xchange based collaboration solutions along with other web hosting companies and ISP's.
